Reddit Spam Domain List
This is a list of all domains that were automatically removed by a bot on Reddit known as “AutoModerator” or removed by a human moderator in subreddits where our staff have moderator privileges.
While AutoModerator is most often configured by moderators of a specific subreddit, it is also a site-wide bot that works to keep spam and links to malicious content off of Reddit completely. If your domain is on the list below, then there is a good chance it is being removed on subreddits across the website or being reported as spam or worse by users and moderators.
Domains removed by human moderators likely violated the rules of a subreddit, were posted by a shadowbanned account, or were just spam.
Domains that are UGC websites (i.e. YouTube and Facebook) likely do not mean the entire website is being considered spam.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Reddit Spam Domain List
Question: Does this mean Reddit thinks my domain is spam?
Answer: Not exactly, it means there is a chance around the date it was discovered or before that your website was marked as spam. AutoModerator also sometimes removes links it feels are not very useful to a subreddit and can be programmed by moderators to remove links following various rules per subreddit. Use this more of a guideline to determine if your domain has been marked as spam.
Question: Why would Reddit think my website is spam?
Answer: There are several reasons Reddit might think your website is spam. For example if you used a new account and posted a link to a document in multiple subreddit’s as fast as you could, or if a lot of users across the website marked links to various content on your site as spam, or if several moderators used the ‘spam’ option when removing your content from their subreddit. We suggest you read This Help Document from Reddit about spam.
Question: Is there anyway to get my website to stop being removed by AutoModerator?
Answer: It is possible, but how you get unbanned will all depend on if the domain to your website has been banned site-wide, previously held malware, or been manually banned by a specific subreddit.
Question: I’ve heard of a shadowban, is it possible to have a shadowbanned domain on Reddit?
Answer: We haven’t heard of such a thing, however, if the user accounts posting links to your website are shadowbanned this could be a factor leading to AutoModerator removing them. You can determine if an account is shadowbanned by using this tool.
Question: Are there any specific situations you know of that lead to a website getting removed by Reddit site-wide? Can you tell me about them?
The first one is a big one, it’s called Social Bookmark Linking. If you’re hiring an agency to do SEO for you and they tout this or put it on an invoice as a link building tactic, it is highly likely your domain has been blacklisted by Reddit or the accounts they use are shadowbanned. This type of link building was acceptable in pre-2006 when online bookmarking websites were less about groups and more about individuals storing their bookmarks online. Today in nearly every circumstance it is nothing but link spam.
The second one is when links are posted to subreddits and ignore the rules frequently. It doesn’t matter who the account owners are, after several reports AutoModerator will either start removing links from a specific subreddit or do it site-wide.
Question: Why should I care if my domain is considered Spam by Reddit anyways?
Answer: Great question, Reddit is home to tens of millions of affluent and influential people across demographics, most of whom choose to only browse the site/app and not post anything. It is known that journalists look for story ideas there and has greatly aided in the success of dozens of new businesses, platforms like Twitch, and YouTube channels. Think of it as probably the most influential and authoritative group of people in your target market sitting around in relative anonymity discussing things. If your website is considered spam by Reddit, then you’re very unlikely to get seen or shared by these people greatly reducing chances of sales and content distribution.
Question: Can I send in a domain to add to this list?
Answer: Certainly, please use the contact form and make sure to include a link to a screenshot of your Moderation Que showing the offending domain(s) and the subreddit the domains were found in. We’ll record the date as best we can from this data or you can include it in your message. Contacts without a link to a screenshot of proof will be ignored and trashed.
